A few years ago we built a website as a Christmas present to family members. We called it “Our Family Patch.” It was truly a labor of love. The first several months was spent on learning how to build a website. With the help of the internet and a good HTML editor and many hours of work we started off on our adventure. Our idea was that each family unit was a “patch” in a “quilt” that makes up the fabric of our Family. Each family had their own page with interesting threads unique to them. We also included internet links that were important to that family. The hope was this page might become their “Home Page.” Then we added articles we found interesting and posted them for the enjoyment of everyone. The website was much fun but it was crude (we are self taught) and difficult to maintain so we decided to find another format.
We are retired folks that really like to learn new things. Our main source of information is off the internet and we spend a good bit of our time at our computers. Just like you we find so many cool things in our learning process that we want to share with others. Some items are better ways to live. Some items make us laugh. And some things take us to places we only dream of going. So we decided to create a magazine which will highlight our adventures and things we hope you will find interesting and enlightening. There are many varied talents in our family and among our friends, so we will be calling on them to contribute to the “Our Family Patch” magazine. Thank you for visiting!
We want to hear from you. Tell us what you like. If you want to be a contributor, please let us know.
