This idea came from a stock pile of designer fabrics I had sitting around and the desire to make something really cute out of them. You can be as ornate or simply as you want with your own designs as you find things around the home that inspire you.
- Washi tape
- Self-stick felt
- Assorted broken jewelry pieces, old buttons, photos
Begin by tracing and cutting out stockings of desired size, from the self –stick felt.
Cut strips of lace the desired length and width of the top of the stocking. Place on stocking at the top and fold back; taping it in place.
Cut a strip of ribbon to go along the bottom on the lace trim, tape it in place on the back also.
Embellish with another trim using Washi tape as desired, just below the ribbon.
Trace the stocking onto the felt and cut the felt using scissors.
Peel the paper back and attach to the back of the stocking.
Now you’re ready to decorate to your heart’s content. Decorate with buttons, bows, old jewelry or even photos. When you are done embellishing, you can run a piece of trim around the edges or just use some additional Washi tape for a nice finished look. Attach to a string and display your garland proudly anywhere you please. This is a great family project. No two alike.
